Discover Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno, a town located between Umbria and Tuscany located on a promontory raised over 300 meters above sea level. Get to know the village by walking through the streets and alleys with breathtaking panoramic views; get to know the food and wine and artisan specialties in the village shops; walk the path that surrounds the medieval fortress overlooking the lake with a view of undoubted beauty, until you reach the fully cycleable lakefront, from the Lido Comunale to Lido Arezzo with its equipped beaches, restaurants, pizzerias, lounge bars and ice cream parlors for an aperitif facing the lake lake with its suggestive sunsets.
EXCURSIONS up to 60 km
The recently completed Trasimeno Cycle Ring route winds along the perimeter of the shores of the lake, skirting its shores until it reaches inside and on the border of the Regional Park of the same name. Every turn gives you the changing spectacle of the lake waters, the reeds, the islands and the very rich birdlife. The itinerary, in its entirety, is well tackled with our Fat Ebikes, giving comfort and safety along the way. Starting from our rental point, inside the historic center of Castiglione del Lago, you can easily reach the cycle path along the Lungo Lago until you reach the former Eleutieri military airport where the pleasant itinerary of the Trasimeno cycle ring begins crossing open meadows , cultivated fields and olive groves, with numerous pedestrian bridges and picnic rest areas signposted at every kilometer of travel. Immersed in nature, the scenery of the reeds and the ease with which you will be able to see the wild avifauna in this section deserves numerous stops that allow you to gaze out over the lake. The itinerary continues for 8 km until you reach the small town of Borghetto (Church of San Martino X-XIII centuries) and then continue in the direction of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, a village of medieval origin overlooking the shores of the lake, theater of the "Battle of Trasimeno", which took place on 24 June 217 BC, in the which Hannibal's Carthaginian army defeated the Roman army. The itinerary resumes between woods and countryside until it reaches the town of Passignano sul Trasimeno, a splendid village on the shores of the lake, a happy combination of nature, history, art and folklore. The circular route alternates asphalted sections and gravel sections, allowing you to meet characteristic inhabited centers such as Torricella, San Feliciano (with its typical port) and Sant'Arcangelo (fractions of Magione), until returning to Castiglione del Lago (originally the fourth island of Trasimeno today among the most beautiful villages in Italy). The recommended itineraries vary from 30 (round trip) to 60 km, based on the time available and the limitation of fatigue. Anyone wishing to limit the effort can coordinate the return with the ferry that covers the Passignano – Castiglione del Lago route and which transports bicycles without problems. (Always check the times according to the season)
HIGHLIGHTS
Enjoy the most beautiful views of the place, from the panoramic road of the Poggio that surrounds the walls of the Castle and Palazzo della Corgna up to the panoramas offered by the ancient access gates (Porta Perugina, Porta Senese and Porta Fiorentina), fauna species live in the stretch of the lakeside typical of the lake that are easy to capture with your camera.

In 1 hour, with our bicycles you can easily get to know the village with its historical and panoramic places, take the path accessible only to bicycles and pedestrians that surrounds the medieval walls of the castle and palace overlooking the lake and then reach the lakefront all on cycle path, from the Lido Comunale to Lido Arezzo, with beaches equipped for bathing and entertainment, enriched by restaurants, lakefront lounge bars and then reaching the former Eleuteri airport, built in the 1930s for war purposes.

The bike tour recommended by us arrives in Tuoro sul Trasimeno (32 km round trip) or up to Passignano about 50 km (round trip) of purely cycling nature trail, while the option for the more adventurous provides for the completion of a loop of the whole Trasimeno Lake for a total of about 60 km, visiting the various villages on the lake.
